Packasport

Nobody builds a stronger case for adventure

How do I mount the Packasport on my vehicle?

The Packasport mounts easily to the crossbars of most factory and after-market roof racks. Adjust the crossbars to measure a 30” spread. The Packasport’s crossbar channels should fit accordingly. Then, secure the Packasport to the crossbars with the mounting hardware furnished with each unit. Bam! You’re done.

Do I need any special tools to install my Packasport?

Nope! All you need is a roof rack with sliding front to back crossbars. Double check that your roof rack has a carrying weight limitation that exceeds the weight of your Packasport. All mounting hardware is included with your Packasport and no additional tools will be necessary.

What is the carrying weight limitation of my roof rack?

If your roof rack is factory installed, its weight limitation information will be available in your vehicles’ owner’s manual. After-market rack system weight limitations should be available on its respective manufacturers website.

What if my vehicle has side rails but no crossbars?

Crossbars are a requirement for mounting a Packasport. Consult your vehicle’s manufacturer for factory-fit crossbars.

Can the Packasport be mounted to round or elliptically shaped crossbars?

Yes! However, crossbar width cannot exceed 4”. Depth cannot exceed 1.5”. Most crossbars measure considerably less than these dimensions, so typically this isn’t an issue.

IF YOU OWN A HUMMER: Let us know at checkout! We will include hardware specially designed for your factory crossbars.

Will all Packasports fit all vehicle roof racks?

No. You must take the time to measure your roof and rack correctly.

How do I measure correctly to fit a Packasport on my vehicle?

Set your front and rear crossbars at 30" apart. If you have towers on your rack system make sure there is enough room between them (from drivers side to passenger side) to fit the Packasport evenly on the crossbars. Depending on which Packasport System is being mounted, the widths measure anywhere from 24" on the System 60 to 44" on the System 115. You will also want to make sure that if your vehicle has a rear hatch door, it will clear the back of the Packasport when lifted. Most rack systems will allow you to shift the Packasport both forward and backward as needed.

Rail: Factory rack bars that go from front to back.

Tower: A vertical part of the rack system connecting the roof and or rail of the vehicle to the crossbars. Not all rack systems have towers.

Crossbar: The bars that go from the driver side to passenger side.

Is it possible to have my Packasport custom painted?

Absolutely! And it looks great! Custom painting takes about 3 weeks. You will need to provide your vehicle’s Factory Paint Code (which can be found in your vehicle manual or through a local dealership) as well as your VIN number at checkout. Please be aware that there are some special paints that we are not able to replicate, and we will contact you prior to sale should this be the case.
